The Life of King Hezekiah

King Hezekiah was one of the most righteous kings of Judah. He did everything he could to follow God and to lead his people back to following Him as well. He is a great example of what it looks like when we truly put our trust in God.

Hezekiah in the Bible:

“He removed the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been burning incense to it.” (2 Kings 18:4)

“Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him.” (2 Kings 18:5)

“Hezekiah held fast to the LORD and did not stop following him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses.” (2 Kings 18:6)

“The LORD was with Hezekiah; he was successful in everything he undertook.” (2 Kings 18:7)

“He rebelled against the king of Assyria and refused to pay tribute.” (2 Kings 18:12)

“But Hezekiah’s heart was proud and disobedient, and he did not humble himself, even though the LORD’s warning had come to him.” (2 Kings 18:14)

“So the LORD sent an army against them, and it destroyed Hezekiah’s army, captured the city and killed all the people in it.” (2 Kings 18:17)

“Hezekiah had been ill for some time, and he prayed to the LORD. The LORD answered his prayer and gave him a miraculous sign.” (2 Kings 20:1-6)

“But even after this, Hezekiah did not repent of his pride. So the LORD was very angry with him and sent another army to destroy Jerusalem. This time they carried away everything, including Hezekiah’s wives, his children and even his palace treasures.” (2 Kings 20:12-18)
